From drain and circulation problems to heating, filling, control, and door-latch issues, our technicians repair major residential dishwasher brands and common built-in, portable, and drawer-style models.
Across Tampa Bay, we service residential dishwashers with same-day appointment availability during regular service hours and a 1-hour arrival window.
The problems below cover common dishwasher failures involving washing, draining, filling, drying, noise, leaks, and cycle operation.
If the dishwasher does not start, check that the door is fully closed and the unit has power. Common causes include a faulty door latch or switch, an unresponsive control panel, wiring problems, or a control-board failure. If the dishwasher has power but will not begin a cycle, the start circuit should be diagnosed.
A dishwasher that starts normally but stops during the cycle may have a drainage, water-fill, door-latch, heating, sensor, or control problem. Error codes can help narrow down the cause, but proper diagnosis is usually needed before replacing parts.
Poor cleaning can be caused by blocked spray arms, a weak circulation pump, a clogged filter, low water level, water-temperature problems, or a detergent dispenser that is not opening correctly. Loading and detergent choice can also affect cleaning performance.
Standing water in the bottom of the dishwasher may be caused by a clogged filter, blocked or kinked drain hose, debris in the drain pump, a failed drain pump, or a control problem. Broken glass or food debris can also block the pump on some models.
Grinding, buzzing, rattling, or squealing noises may come from debris near the pump, a damaged spray arm, worn circulation-pump components, or the drain pump. Some sounds are normal during operation, but a new or unusually loud noise should be checked if it continues.
Excessive vibration can be caused by dishes or utensils interfering with the spray arms, improper loading, a loose or incorrect installation, or a problem with the circulation or drain pump. Start by checking the load and making sure the dishwasher is securely installed.
Slow filling may be caused by low household water pressure, a partially closed water supply valve, a kinked inlet hose, a clogged inlet screen, or a failing water inlet valve. If the water supply is normal, the fill system should be diagnosed.
If the dishwasher takes in too much water, possible causes include a water inlet valve that does not close properly, a float or water-level sensor problem, or an electronic control fault. Overfilling should be addressed promptly because it can lead to leaks and water damage.
Dishwasher leaks can come from a damaged door gasket, loose hose connection, cracked or worn hose, leaking pump or valve, excessive water level, or a problem with the tub or door alignment. Finding the exact source is important before replacing parts.
If dishes remain wet, check that the correct cycle and drying options are selected and that rinse aid is being used when recommended by the manufacturer. A heating element, thermostat, vent, fan, sensor, or control problem can also reduce drying performance, depending on the dishwasher design.
