GE range burners are not heating up, but the control panel is functional
Brand: GEModel: JBS55W0K3WW
The customer called us to report that the GE range burners are not heating up. We occasionally encounter this issue, and the repair turns out to be simple but unexpected for the customer. The key factor here is that the stove is powered by 240 volts (120+120), with all the heating elements operating on 240 volts (2 lines). However, the timer (control board) is powered by 120 volts (1 line). When contact is lost with one of the lines, the timer continues to function, but the heating elements do not. The oven light also works in this situation. Customers often believe the problem lies with the range, but it’s actually an issue with the electrical outlet. If the outlet is old or if the contact bolts are poorly tightened, the pin can heat up and burn out, leading to a loss of contact with one of the two lines.
