The freezer doesn’t cool enough, and it’s very warm inside the GE refrigerator
Brand: GEModel: GSL25IFRFBS
A customer called us with a problem with their GE refrigerator: the freezer doesn’t cool enough, and it’s very warm inside. Our technician conducted a diagnosis. The temperature inside the refrigerator was around 65 degrees, while the freezer was about 25 degrees. At first glance, the technician understood the problem, which we call a defrost issue.
Inside the freezer, there is an evaporator coil that produces cold air, and a fan circulates air through this coil. During the day, the coil accumulates frost and snow due to condensation. Once a day, the control board melts frost below the coil for better air circulation. The defrost function in this model involves the defrost heater, defrost thermostat, defrost thermistor, and the control board.
GE refrigerator freezer doesn’t cool enough and it’s warm inside: Fix
In our case, the tubular heater burned out, and the defrost cycle stopped working, leading to frost accumulation. The evaporator coil began to be completely blocked by this frost in about a week. Air circulation ceased, and the temperature in the freezer began to rise. The fresh food section also draws air from this evaporator coil through a special damper, and due to the restriction, the temperature there also increased.
Each of our technicians always keeps this model of heater in stock, and this time, the technician repaired the refrigerator during the first visit. Call us for your refrigerator repair; we have a variety of parts in stock and are ready to perform the repair quickly and with a warranty!
