Ice is not dispensing in the Whirlpool refrigerator
Brand: WhirlpoolModel: ED5VHEXVQ01
The customer complained that the ice maker was working, but ice was not dispensing in the Whirlpool refrigerator. The technician found that the microswitch did not make a clicking sound when the pedal was pressed. Upon disassembling the dispenser panel, it was discovered that the mounting points of the microswitch had broken off. This prevented the microswitch from being pressed to activate the auger motor.
Ice is not dispensing in the Whirlpool refrigerator: Fix
Ideally, the solution would be to replace the plastic housing inside the dispenser that holds the microswitches for ice and water dispensing. However, the manufacturer has discontinued this part. The technician made a repair by drilling two holes and attaching the microswitch to the plastic frame at the same location. This allowed the system to work again. Sometimes, with the right knowledge, appliances can be fixed without using new parts. However, every repair is unique and individual.
