Inglis Washer Agitator Dogs Issue Repair
Brand: InglisModel: ITW4300SQ3
We received a service request from a customer whose Inglis washer is experiencing issues with agitator dogs. Despite being a brand of its own, it is essentially a Whirlpool top-load machine with a central tower agitator. The reported issue was that the machine wasn’t effectively washing clothes due to faulty components known as “agitator dogs” inside the agitator.
The operational principle of this type of washing machine involves filling the drum with a substantial amount of water. During the wash cycle, the drum rotates left and right on half turns, while the agitator, equipped with plastic dogs, freely rotates counterclockwise but is hindered from clockwise rotation. This continuous counterclockwise rotation causes the agitator to circulate clothes from top to bottom, facilitating the washing process.
Over time, these small plastic dogs wear out. When this happens, the agitator loses its ability to grip and starts freely moving with the drum. This disrupts the circulation motion necessary for effective washing. Even though the motor continues to operate, the clothes aren’t properly washed.
