The refrigerator Frigidaire is making grinding sounds
Brand: FrigidaireModel: FFHS2622MSS
The technician arrived for another service call, and the client explained that the refrigerator Frigidaire is making grinding sounds constantly. The technician found that the sound was coming from the freezer, specifically from its fan.
Upon inspection, the fan was found to have ice buildup. The source of this ice was traced to water dripping from the ice maker’s water fill tube, located above the fan. Calcium buildup in the tube prevented water from filling properly into the ice maker. This caused water to splash around. As a result, some water was splashing onto the back wall of the refrigerator. The water froze and caused the ice buildup.
Refrigerator Frigidaire is making grinding sounds: Fix
This issue was resolved by simply replacing the water fill tube. This particular malfunction is not very obvious. The technician has encountered it many times before, indicating a design flaw in the water fill tube. Some manufacturers continue to use the same parts design for years, even though they are aware of these problems, as it is more cost-effective to make periodic repairs than to change the production line.
