LG Dishwasher AE/E1: Leak Protection Guide

LG dishwasher code AE (sometimes displayed as E1) is associated with leak protection on applicable models. It can be triggered when water reaches the base-protection float; causes and procedures vary by model. Check the owner’s manual for your exact model.

What to Do if AE Appears

• Stop the cycle and stop using the dishwasher.
• If you can safely reach the water shutoff, turn off the supply.
• Keep clear of wet electrical areas. Disconnect power only if the switch or plug can be reached without contacting water.
• Do not tilt or pull out the dishwasher, dry the base, remove panels, or try to defeat the float or leak-protection system.
• Use only detergent intended for an automatic dishwasher and follow the product and model instructions; oversudsing can contribute to some leak symptoms.

Water from a leak, excess suds, installation or leveling conditions, or a door-related issue may require inspection. If AE/E1 persists, arrange qualified service to locate the source and check the protection system. A reset or start/pause sequence does not repair a leak.
