Say Goodbye to Dryer Issues: Decoding Samsung Dryer Error Codes
Samsung dryer codes vary by model, and some dryers show blinking light patterns instead of a digital code. The list below follows Samsung’s current U.S. dryer guide. Confirm the full model number and use its manual for variant codes and exact procedures; a washer code list should not be used to diagnose a dryer.
Samsung’s official dryer error-code guide groups the following displays by issue:
Samsung dryer code groups
- Voltage: 9C1, 9E, 2E, 9E1 — abnormal voltage supplied to the dryer. Follow the manual and use a qualified electrician or service technician for electrical supply concerns.
- Jammed buttons: bE, bE2, bC2, 6E, 6E2, 6C2 — a panel button may be stuck or continuously pressed. Power off and gently check the buttons as Samsung directs; request service if a button is damaged or the code returns.
- Door: dC, dE, dF, do, d0, 1 DC, 1 dF — door, latch, or door-sensing issue. Check for laundry caught in the door and close it securely. Do not remove the latch or panel.
- Temperature: tS, t5, tC, tO, t0, tE, tE3, tC5, tCS, 1 tC, 1tC5, 1tCS — a temperature or temperature-sensing issue. Samsung’s first checks include the lint screen and exhaust path; persistent codes need service.
- Heating: HC, hE, HC4, 1 HC — overheating or, on some electric models, a low-voltage condition. Check the lint screen and exhaust path; contact an electrician for a supply-voltage concern.
- Communication: AC, Et, AE, EEE, AE4, AE3, AE5, E3, 1 AC — internal components are not communicating. A power cycle may be listed in the model guide; if the code returns, request service.
- Frequency: FC, FE, 1 FC — invalid power-source frequency. Follow the model manual and request service if a restart does not clear it.
- Vent Blockage test results: Clg, Cl9, Cg, C9, C80, C8o, C8, C90, C9o — results from Samsung’s Vent Blockage test. Clean the lint filter and accessible exhaust path as directed for your model. Samsung also lists C1/CL1 for laundry detected in the drum and Ct for dryer temperature outside its operating range.
- Firmware download: dn — a dryer software download is in progress. Do not unplug or turn off power while this code is displayed; follow Samsung’s instructions.
- Child Lock: CL — the control lock is enabled. Use the button sequence in your exact model manual.
- Other codes listed by Samsung: 3C (motor), oD (dry time), 1 AC7 (electronic control), HC2 (gas ignition). Use the model manual for any reset or next step; internal component repair is technician work.
If your code is not listed
Record the code exactly as shown and find the full model number. Check Samsung’s guide and the matching manual, since displays and meanings can vary by model. Do not apply washer-style unbalanced-load codes such as UE as generic Samsung dryer faults. If the code is absent from your model’s documentation, returns after the manual’s basic checks, or suggests an electrical or internal component issue, stop troubleshooting and arrange qualified service.
